Nacho Alegre and Omar Sosa set up a magazine out of their studio in Barcelona in 2008 to buck the trends of cold, clinical interior design magazines, instead opting for a more honest and realistic approach. Apartamento publishes magazines and books that take a focus on the everyday aspects of living in real homes. In their words "A real living space is made from living, not decorating. A bored materialist can’t understand that a house has to become a home.
