First conceived in 1957 by Hiro’o BABA who began by selling iconic Hasami ceramics as the street vendor "Hiro’o Baba Shoten." Maruhiro inc. found its name in 1989 and started selling ceramics worldwide. They launched their HASAMI Brand in 2010, and started selling traditionally crafted Hasami ceramics made in a town of the same name in the Nagasaki Prefecture. Hasami ceramic production is characterised by a specialised division of labour where shaping, moulding, glazing, and firing are handled independently. Constantly pushing boundaries and honing in on specialised skills to produce a final product that is a joy to hold, use, wear in and wear out!
